BMAC Meeting Aug 7, 2021Location:  Great British Food CompanyAttendees:  about 10 including two guestsBob Wendl served as today’s meeting leader. The group decided to attend the open house and BBQ at the Colorado Springs Powersports Motorcycle shop instead of going on a group ride after the meeting. There was no Treasurer’s report or Secretary’s report from the previous meeting.Bob gave a short presentation about his latest MC project — a 1971 Honda CL, 175cc.  He recently had quite a challenge with replacing the air filters. Buying a replacement was hundreds of dollars which he didn’t want to spend.  So he took the  MacGyver approach to refurbishing the old one.  The foam was glued on and was so old and hard, it was stuck on.  He tried burning it off — didn’t work; various  chisels and dremel tools and many hours finally cleaned it up.  Total cost of new foam and various supplies was $30 and 8 hours for the air filter project.  [sidenote — the bike is running and ready to give to it’s owner]Capt. Bob brought his newly acquired 2019 Triumph Scrambler 1200XC for show and tell.  He purchased new in March 2021 and has been riding both pavement and dirt with it.  He is especially impressed with it’s handling off-road and even prefers it over his Tiger-800XC off-road.Bob reviewed upcoming events including the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and MotoGP events for August.  We had a brief discussion about MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi and his many accomplishments and upcoming retirement.Notes by Denise Wendl
